A goofy paranoia thriller that proceeds from the notion that an American politician would be willing to kill off an entire space station crew in order to steal a cold fusion recipe. Traitorous Senator Treadwell (Lance LeGault) kills off his connections to the investigative offices of CIA Chief Wilfred Parlow (George Murdoch). Ordered into space by Parlow, maverick military troubleshooter Jared Stone (Jeff Speakman) encounters a spate of subversion aboard his reconnaissance vessel, the space station Scorpio One. As if Treadwell weren't bad enough, Parlow's aide, Ms. Gibson (Judith Chapman), figures out that her boss has just assassinated Treadwell in order to usurp his scientific thievery. Meanwhile, Stone locates the data Parlow has sent him to find, as Treadwell's mercenaries kill off Stone's support team. Hampered by dwindling oxygen and numerous kickboxing assailants, Stone must repower an outdated Apollo capsule in order to escape to Earth with his surviving mates. But even if he's fortunate enough to engineer a successful crash landing, how can he thwart the implacable Parlow? So many conspiracies, so little time. Steve Latshaw's clumsy script drags viewers around multiple locations and serves up a high body count, but there's never any doubt that it will be resolved in a happy, patriotic outcome. Despite his lithe martial artistry, Speakman isn't much of an actor, and gets little help from a supporting cast that seems to be reading cue cards. Because the villains' diabolical moves are so easy to anticipate, the film's only real asset is the well-staged brawls. Originally broadcast on the SciFi Channel. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
