In a role somewhat reminiscent of Cervantes' Don Quixote, Keith plays a 79-year-old rancher who upholds the honor and codes of the Old West. When land developer Oakland wants to buy Keith's land for a dam project, the old man fights instead of giving in to development. Aided by Oakland's
son, Lenz, and his own daughter Carey, Keith decides to make one last great cattle drive with his lone, gangly steer. Instead he lands in jail but is later sprung by Carey. In a manner befitting his code of valor, Keith dies by the gun, thus living his myth to the end. Keith gives a heartwarming
performance as the old cowpoke. Unfortunately the direction slips into slapstick routin...
