1950, Movie, NR, 104 mins

In a rare appearance out of samurai garb, Mifune plays a painter who sues a magazine for printing a picture and scandalous story linking him with a famous pop singer. Troubles erupt when Mifune's lawyer takes a bribe from the magazine to lose the case for money to treat the lawyer's ill daughter. Guilt forces the lawyer to confess, however, and his daughter dies shortly thereafter. Done with Kurosawa's subtle touch of irony, the film was first released in Japan in 1950. leave a comment
