For the most part an uninteresting and choppy newspaper yarn, with Bickford as a dedicated newsman who rises from humble small-town origins to become editor of a large New York daily. After her son dies, neglected wife Hobart decides to leave her husband. A totally out-of-character ending has Bickford shelving his career to make another go at marriage in tamer surroundings. O'Brien plays a reporter who makes to the bottle, has a brief affair with Hobart, and is killed in a plane crash while pursuing an assignment Bickford has given him. No one involved seems to care too much about this production. leave a comment
