1938, Movie, NR, 70 mins

Basically a vehicle for Bradna, a French actress Paramount was trying its hardest to promote at the time. The comedy offers very few laughs, despite a script that had potential if it had been handled properly. Milland, in a tiresome portrayal, plays a golf pro who meets and falls in love with Bradna. They quickly marry, only to return to the States and find Milland's folks have arranged a society marriage for him to acquire financial backing for the family business. Hiding his true marriage from his parents, Milland goes through with an engagement to rich girl Hervey. Not wishing to drop a bomb on his bride-to-be, Milland informs Hervey that he is already married to Bradna. Hervey doesn't mind at all, and even goes along with the plan for the fun of it. By the time the picture ends, nobody really cares how Milland's wedding plans will turn out. leave a comment
