1932, Movie, NR, 82 mins

Clara Bow returned to the screen after an absence of over a year in this overblown, melodramatic tale of a feisty half-breed girl (Bow) and her attempts to find happiness in civilized society. The big secret is that Bow doesn't know she's a half-breed, but to demonstrate her instinctive "savageness" the script has her "yipping" quite a bit, running around scantily clothed, and getting into vicious fights. She does not get along with her Indian father Roland, and marries the wrong man just to spite dad. The marriage ends after a violent quarrel, leaving Bow destitute and with a sick baby to care for. Unable to make ends meet, she walks the streets to earn some cash. Eventually she returns to the country of her heritage, learns of her true identity, and marries a young half-breed boy, finally finding happiness. Maudlin and somewhat racist. leave a comment
