Saturday's Millions

In a change of pace from earlier college football films, the hero of SATURDAY'S MILLIONS, Jim Fowler (Robert Young), is a college gridiron star who despises his fans and their tendency to make fools of themselves over the game. To support himself, Jim takes numerous jobs, including delivering laundry, all the while romancing a rich man's daughter (Leila Hyams). The film's ending is surprisingly ambiguous; although Jim finally does show the proper team spirit in the climactic contest, it's suggested he might've done better to leave his heroics at home.
