This college football tale predates the cynicism found in 1951's SATURDAY'S HERO. College gridiron star Val (Van Heflin) refuses to put up with the patronage he receives because of his athletic ability. He wants to get through his classes through hard work and development of his mental faculties, just like everyone else.
