The bad news is that this sequel to the 1981 horror spoof SATURDAY THE 14TH is just as stupid as the original; the good news is, it's shorter. The story of Eddie Baxter (Jason Presson) and his kooky family is related by Baxter himself in flashback. When Baxter was a teenager, a convict uncle was executed and left his house to Baxter's family. After a lot of strange happenings, Baxter learns that the house was built over a crack in the earth that lets in all the evil of the afterworld, and he must seal the fissure to prevent apocalypse. As the house fills up with spirits, Baxter, who has acquired a magic power, battles the evil force amidst avalanches, hurricanes, and explosions (all throwaway footage from other movies). SATURDAY THE 14TH STRIKES BACK is simply a very bad movie. The jokes fall completely flat, the story is ridiculously muddled, and the performances are embarrassing. Produced by Julie Corman for her father Roger's Concorde pictures, SATURDAY THE 14TH STRIKES BACK is a sad example of low-budget filmmaking. Director-writer Howard Cohen, the man behind the similarly inept TIME TRACKERS, appears completely talentless. leave a comment
