Jennie Lee (Justine Bateman) is an orphan and high school honor student who dreams of a career in rock 'n' roll. During the summer after her graduation, she and her band head for the seaside where they are hired as the house band in a beach club. Over the course of the summer, the band members are forced to deal with drugs, rich snobs, success, and Bateman's love for the much older club owner (Liam Neeson).
