Lamas is the son of an indentured servant in the Old South. When the owner of a Georgia estate passes away, Lamas inherits the place, helped by the late man's son, Drake. Dahl, the man's daughter, is furious that this freed slave has the plantation. Of course, their differences are resolved, and the fiery woman softens her stance by the picture's end for the eventual marriage. Mixed up in this tale are various subplots involving blockades, the plague, and the attempt by Medina, as Drake's wife, to seduce Lamas. SANGAREE is hollow with a dull plot and an acting style typical of potboilers. What make this film better than expected are the lush locations and period costumes filmed in wide-screen 3-D with good effect. The visual beauty, however, comes at the expense of believable dialog and a credible plot. leave a comment
