A sandwich-board man wanders around London and, in the course of the day, meets a variety of different characters. The two longest stories involve a romance between a car salesman and a model; and the adventures of Bentine as he is about to enter his racing pigeon in an important
competition. Other players (most lasting only a few minutes apiece) include Holloway as a park gardener; Terry Thomas as a rather inept scout leader; and Chaplin (son of Charlie) as a beatnik artist. The film is a mixed effort with some moments working better than others. The comedy is played out
with a free-moving camera, giving this a documentary look. For the most part THE SANDWICH MAN ...
