Sands Of Beersheba

Baker, an American gentile woman, goes to Israel to look at the site of her Jewish fiance's death in the 1948 war. She meets the late man's best friend (Bell) and the two fall in love. Bell works in a potash factory but is a gun runner for Israel as well. Bell is ambushed by Stassino, an Arab terrorist, but is taken in by the terrorist's father (Opatoshu). Stassino discovers this information and attacks the house. Stassino is killed and Bell is wounded, left to the comforting arms of his beloved Baker. Somewhat pretentious with its attempts at analyzing the philosophies behind the Arab-Israeli conflict, this film does have a few moments of interest. Hollywood-born ...
