A haunting tale of sudden loss and enduring grief, this drama of a vanished husband and his devastated wife marks a departure from director François Ozon, whose earlier films dealt primarily with lives destroyed by unspoken desires. Charlotte Rampling gives a riveting performance as a middle-aged English professor whose husband (Bruno Cremer) disappears without a trace during a seaside vacation.
