San Fernando Valley

In this age-old plot Rogers is brought into an area that is not the San Fernando Valley (despite the title) to clean it up of some bad guys and sing a few songs along the way. Definitely a lesser effort for the singing cowboy, with unsure direction by English, a serial veteran. This was the first of three films he did with Rogers and the first film (after 1942) in which Rogers didn't use his regular director, Joseph Kane. SAN FERNANDO VALLEY is also notable for Rogers' first on-screen kiss, which he receives in a dream sequence. Ironically it's not his off-screen love Evans who delivers the smooch but kid sister Porter who is the cowboy's osculatory de-flowerer. So...
