During the Civil War, Cameron is a Texas rancher who won't choose sides. Tucker is an ex-Confederate officer who goes off the deep end and becomes a bandit. He murders Cameron's father, and the rancher swears revenge. Though the action sequences are nicely handled and directed with energy,
the expository passages drag. This was quite a surprise from Kane, once one of Republic's better veteran directors. The actors are passable in their roles, though Whelan as the love interest for Tucker overplays her part. Songs include: "South of San Antone," "Ten Thousand Cattle," "The Cowboy's
Lament" (sung by Steele, Carey, Lilburn).
