This British musical stars Matthews as a woman who gives up all the trappings of stardom for the love of Mackay. This was Matthews' last musical. Matthews, who made her first professional stage appearance at age 10, went on to appear in the chorus line of London musicals in her teens and play bit roles in a few films. She rose to stardom in the late 1920s and early 1930s in musical revues. Her popularity as a film star during pre-WW II lasted for several years. Considered one of the most graceful dancers of her time, she was promoted as "The Dancing Divinity."
