Two WW II buddies, Ladd and Cassell, learning that a third friend, Dick, is dying of some disease, decide to keep it a secret from him and show him a good time during his final weeks. To raise some money they agree to fly a shady financier, Carnovsky, out of Shanghai to Saigon for $10,000, no questions asked. While they wait at the airport, Carnovsky's secretary, Lake, shows up, but he is late. When he does arrive, with the police in hot pursuit, Ladd and the others decide it would be best not to get involved so they take off without him, over Lake's protests.
