"Safe" is the key word here. In the blandest possible terms, SAFE PASSAGE tells the story of mother Susan Sarandon, who has seven devoted sons, a recently estranged husband (Sam Shepard) and scary dreams. A nightmare filled with ominous clouds warns her that one of the boys is in
trouble; it turns out to be the rebel who joined the Marines. He's in the Middle East, where an American military compound has just been bombed. Sarandon gathers the brood together to sit around the TV, reminiscing and worrying. Who could actively dislike a film so full of warmth and caring?
