Doris (Katrin Cartlidge) is a young woman who enters an English convent school at the start of WW II even though she isn't Catholic. She tells this secret to her friend, Maggie (Oona Kirsch), who tries to give her a crash course in the religion. This leads to some close calls in Doris'
interactions with the nuns. It is finally revealed that Doris is actually a German-Jew who is avoiding persecution if and when the Nazis invade England. Some nice characters are developed by the girls, offsetting the stereotypes of the nuns.
