The Sacred Flame: Review

This early talkie, adapted from W. Somerset Maugham's play, suffers from the director's inexperience in handling dialog. The film is no more than a stiff rendition of the stage play. Some of the major problems at the time were the cumbersome soundproof cameras and stationary microphones that limited actors' movement.
