This lifeless rip-off of ROCKY, made at the height of the Jim Fixx-inspired running craze, stars Michael Douglas as Michael Andropolis, who is training to run in the Montreal Olympic marathon while trying to patch things up with his wife (Susan Anspach) and family. The 34-year-old Michael, attempting to redeem himself for missing the Pan-American games 10 years before (among other failures), makes it to the marathon, to everyone's surprise, but is injured in the race. Determined to finish, Michael finally staggers into the stadium long after the crowd has gone home, cheered by his fellow athletes.
