Lester (OLIVER! 1968) plays a 10-year-old boy who is psychosomatically mute. He becomes friendly with an ex-army colonel, Mills. The boy's parents, Jackson and Syms, have had no luck curing the boy, but Mills finds that the boy responds easily to a wild white colt. When the pony disappears from the moors, Mills has young Fullerton give her kestrel to Lester to befriend for a while.
