Boles is a government agent hired to capture a villainous fellow who goes by the name of Don Carlos, the leader of a Spanish gang which repeatedly attacks US landowners. Boles' search is fruitless until he learns that the wanted "man" is really Swarthout, a shady senorita. A very proper lady during the day, by night Swarthout is a vicious vigilante. She proves no match, however, for Boles's law-abiding ways. This picture was Swarthout's film debut, and, although she was an opera singer at the Met, she didn't open her mouth on any of the following tunes: "If I Should Lose You," "Thunder over Paradise," "Little Rose of Rancho," "Got a Girl in Cal-i-for-niay," "There's Gold in Monterey," "Where Is My Love," and "The Padre and the Bride" (Ralph Rainger, Leo Robin). leave a comment
