This warm-hearted comedy stars Cary Grant and Betsy Drake as Poppy and Anna Rose, middle-class parents of three children. Anna's generosity crowds the house when she agrees to take in withdrawn 13-year-old Jane (Iris Mann) for two weeks. Poppy balks at the idea, but consents at Anna's
insistence, and by the end of the two weeks, Jane has become a permanent member of the household. Anna then hears of Jimmy-John (Clifford Tatum, Jr.), an emotionally scarred, lame boy who has only received abuse from previous foster parents. Through love and sincerity, Anna gains Jimmy-John's
trust and also wins over Poppy, whose resistance to the new addition is overcome. ROOM FOR ON...
