One of a number of "Express" pictures of the early 1930s (China, Orient, Shanghai, and Silk), ROME EXPRESS takes place on board a Paris-to-Rome train. A murder occurs, and the entire cast is suspect, from Calthrop, a crook who is wanted for double-crossing Veidt and Williams, to Ralston, a
movie star, and Barry and Huth--married, but not to each other. The cast is large but is never lost sight of, thanks to Forde's adroit directing hand. The first picture to come out of Britain's Gaumont Studios, and not half bad either.
