Romantic Comedy

Bernard Slade's adaptation of his own play is neither romantic nor very comedic. Two writers, Jason (Dudley Moore) and Phoebe (Mary Steenburgen), team up and do a bunch of plays together. Jason has a wife, Allison (Janet Eilber), and Phoebe marries Leo (Ron Liebman). Nevertheless, throughout their nine-year professional collaboration, the writers have an on-again, off-again romantic interest in one another and are caught in an unresolved conflict.
