This tedious "art" film burdened with obvious political symbolism and allegory was cowritten by Pier Paolo Pasolini, whose own films aren't much better. The story concerns a day in the life of an obnoxiously simple, tenement-dwelling young man, Sorel, who spends much of the movie looking for a job so that he can marry his sweetheart, Ciangottini.
