Rock, Rock, Rock

1956, Movie, NR, 85 mins

In her film debut Tuesday Weld plays a mid-50s teenie-bopper who has come up with a way to raise some cash for a prom dress after her father closes her charge account. The story is weak from start to finish, but the musical lineup is anything but. Frankie Lymon's Teenagers doing "I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent" is worth the price of 10 admissions. Chuck Berry is almost as impressive belting out "You Can't Catch Me." Another highlight is LaVern Baker's rendition of "Tra La La." DJ-promoter extraordinaire Alan Freed is also on hand, while Connie Francis provides Weld's singing voice.
