Johnny (Howard Duff) wants to follow in his father's racing wake, but his fiancee, Marcy (Helene Stanley), wishes he wouldn't. A compromise is reached when Marcy marries Johnny on the condition that he stop racing after a one-time shot at the Indianapolis 500. Unfortunately, before
Johnny gets to Indy, he's sidelined by a wreck. With Marcy's help, however, he's able to make it back behind the wheel for the race of races--finishing a disappointing ninth. Luckily, the ever-supportive Marcy decides to back her husband's dream another year after all. The film has at least two
dubious distinctions: its "realistic" ending, and direction by the ubiquitous William Beaudine...
