This addition to the "Road" series is told in flashback, as a wealthy couple, Chester Hooton (Bob Hope) and Sal Van Hoyden (Dorothy Lamour), recall how they got rich. They'd gained control of a Klondike gold mine but lost their best friend, Duke Johnson (Bing Crosby), in the process.
While they reminisce, he suddenly pops in, very much alive. The three begin to talk about the old days, and the film goes back in time to show Chester and Duke as a couple of failed vaudevillians who try to make a shady deal in San Francisco and then must flee the city. They board a northbound
