Shearer plays a carefree American who has a child after an affair with Marshall, an English lord. The two marry and their future seems blissful. Marshall goes off on a business trip to America, leaving his wife behind with nothing to do. Shearer is soon bored and attends a swanky party where she bumps into an old flame, Montgomery.
