The time of tricks and treats is upon us again. But for those of us who have outgrown banging down doors for candy (and we're not certain we have), Halloween serves as an excuse to dig up our favorite freaky horror flicks.
Whether you like the gore of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, chilling serial killers like Halloween's Michael Myers or the more modern Asian-inspired screamfests such as The Ring, nothing makes Halloween more fun than watching (or re-watching) a creepy flick.
So, we want to know: What's your go-to scary movie?

Well, this is it — the last post for Masters of Horror Season 2. I still haven't read or heard whether or not there will be a Season 3, but I sure do hope so. As soon as I find out, I'll definitely post it here. I thought that Season 2 wound up being pretty damn good, with four episodes now filling some slots in my top 10 favorites:1. "Fair-haired Child" (Season 1)2. "The Black Cat" (Season 2)3. "Pelts" (Season 2)4. "Cigarette Burns" (Season 1)5. "Right to Die" (Season 2)6. "The Screwfly Solution" (Season 2)7. "Imprint" (Season 1, aka "The Banned Episode")8. "Dance of the Dead" (Season 1)9. "Deer Woman" (Season 1)10. "Dreams in the Witch-House" (Season 1)As you can see, the final episode of this season, "Dream Cruise," didn't make it into my top favorites, but I also didn't find it to be a particularly bad episode. The story was interesting enough, even though it conjured up similar specters from other J-horror films like Ju-on: The Grudge and The Ring (Ringu). Some of it even...

This premiere reinforces and explores haunted folklore from the get-go, warning within minutes that you should, of course, be afraid of the dark. WB's own brothers grim, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki), journey together in search of their missing, ghost-hunting father. The clunky context of the show and the brothers' baggage are dumped on us immediately, with much to sort through. Perhaps Supernatural's creators could take a tip from programs like Alias and Lost and dole out the drama-heavy background on a need-to-know basis. Or use more discretion when measuring the amount — the first 15 minutes were chock-full. These poor boys, following the demonic and fiery death of their mother, were raised by a their ghoul-obsessed dad in a dark world filled with silver bullets and weapons training. They were "raised like warriors." OK. I get it. Please stop.Still, the folklore aspect is great, in a cheesy kind of way. I actually screamed,

Child stars tend to scare us. But not 13-year-old Daveigh Chase. Yeah, she played Samara Morgan, the undead brat who crawled out of the TV screen to scare her victims to death in The Ring. And sure, she was named Best Villain at last year's MTV Movie Awards — beating out Colin Farrell, Mike Myers, Willem Dafoe and Daniel Day-Lewis for her golden popcorn trophy. But Chase hasn't let the goodies she gets for being bad go to her head.
She's a good kid, but maybe too well trained. The young actress has been taught courtesy and politeness, which is nice. Yet, whenever this TV Guide Online reporter asks a tough question, there's a moment of silence as she, I suspect, checks with an adult on her end for an appropriate response.
Case in point: Critics have trashed Fox's Oliver Beene, including our own Matt Roush, who calls the show "cartoonish and crudely unpleasant." Since the show's producers have done some r

Hey, fans of The Ring: Is it just us, or have you also regarded your TV and VCR with mild distrust ever since that ghastly little girl crawled out of the screen and literally scared folks to death? Well, boo! TV Guide Online has the latest scoop on The Ring 2. Our preliminary advice to moviegoers? Like mama always said, don't sit too close to the tube...
First off, what will the sequel be about? "We have to figure something out quick," admits Walter Parkes, the producer behind last fall's blockbuster thriller. "Truthfully, the most interesting story to tell on The Ring is a prequel. I would be fascinated about how that little girl came into this world, what those parents thought they were getting and what they got — and what they got rid of!
"So," he continues, "just from a screenwriting point of view, I'd say that's the story to tell. The producer in me is worried about a prequel. Just because, has there ever been a
