Despite some very good footage of circus stunts and the inclusion of Spillane playing himself as a detective, this story of a maniacal ringmaster out to destroy the circus is pretty flat. McClory is the ringmaster whose jealousy of Beatty makes him want to destroy Beatty's circus. He uses a drunken clown to carry through his plans.
