Film depiction of the autobiography of Maxwell, focused on his adventures with a playful otter. The semidocumentary flavor was heightened by the presence of Travers and McKenna (then recently of BORN FREE fame, another animal story). Travers plays an increasingly distraught London clerk
who decides to purchase the otter he sees in the pet shop that he passes every day on his way to work. When the otter's antics get him evicted from his apartment, Travers takes to the Scottish Highlands, intending to devote himself to writing about Arabia; but the otter, whom he names Mij, takes
up a great deal of Travers's attention, and he's unable to spend much time writing. When...
