This filmed presentation of the famous Giuseppe Verdi opera makes a good effort to capture the music and the story in a visual manner. Though it tends to lag in pace, there is enough energy behind the production to pull it through. Story centers on the court jester, Gobbi, whose
daughter, Gonovi, sacrifices her life to save that of the amorous duke played by Filippeschi. Though Gonovi acts the part of Gilda, Pagliughi dubs the singing, but the synchronization between voice and lips often doesn't match.
