High-school football star Tom Cruise yearns to escape his stifling mill town existence via a sports scholarship but runs afoul of tough coach Craig T. Nelson. This cliche-riddled picture was the directorial debut of veteran cinematographer Michael Chapman, who took no risks in his first time out. Filmed in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where area coach Don Yanessa acted as technical advisor, also appearing as an opposing coach. leave a comment
