Scott's a shotgun rider for a stagecoach. When some outlaws led by Morris discredit him, Scott has to convince the whole town that he's honest. The film ends with a terrific gun battle in which Scott takes on the gang singlehandedly. For anyone else, this outing would have been considered
routine, but it was well beneath the talents of Scott. By now he was a cowboy star of some stature, and a simplistic film like RIDING SHOTGUN was unworthy of him. Production credits are okay and instill some life into the film, but often it's an unintentionally funny piece.
