Riders Of The Purple Sage: Review

O'Brien plays a cowboy out to rescue his kidnapped sister (Nails) in this adaptation of the noted Grey novel. Though a bit creaky as far as dialogue goes, there are several sequences that feature topnotch action. A wide-angle lens was used in the photography with great effect. O'Brien is fine as the hero and fits the characterization of the strong, silent type. This first sound version was followed by a sequel, THE RAINBOW TRAIL, in 1932.
