Birch, the local sheriff, along with lawyer Pullen, murders a man and one of his sons. The surviving son (Murphy) vows revenge and goes after the pair with the help of gunfighter Duryea. Cabot, the sheriff's niece, is engaged to marry Pullen, but after the climactic shootout, she has the usual change of heart, ending up with Murphy.
