Though this is lightweight fare from Hitchcock, and has nothing to do with the mystery-suspense genre he later became the master of, RICH AND STRANGE is both entertaining and well-crafted. Kendall and Barry are a small town pair who inherit some money and suddenly decide to take a world cruise. Thrust into a foreign atmosphere of sophistication and wealth, the two change drastically, Barry becoming involved with a middle-aged man and the rather oafish Kendall falling for a phony princess who winds up bilking him of most of his funds.
