The poignant story of an Italian rice farmer, Lulli, whose life is made miserable through an unhappy marriage. Among the migrant workers on the farm, he notices a young girl who looks oddly familiar. He follows the girl to discover that she is his illegitimate daughter. He now showers the girl with special favors without disclosing their real relationship. The girl, Martinelli, falls in love with auto mechanic Battaglia, who becomes jealous when he see Lulli's attentions to his girl. A reunion is facilitated by Lulli when he tells Battaglia of the true relationship. The latter then rescues Martinelli from an attempted rape at the hands of Lulli's worthless nephew Auclair. leave a comment
