Stewart Rome, a down-on-his-luck officer, is invited to speak at a regimental dinner. Pawning the last of his valuables, he travels to London and, after making a speech about hope and self-sufficiency, gives his last pound note to a collection to help a corporal. Of higher quality than
other British films of the time, this movie is an excellent character drama with Rome, a former star of British silents, very good in an underplayed role.
