This is one of those horror films that tries way too hard to be something different and merely winds up as a confused mess. Combining gore with comedy as a movie within a movie within a dream within a movie, RETURN TO HORROR HIGH opens as local police arrive at a high school brimming with the bloody bodies of a horror film crew, a massacre only the screenwriter survived. Through a flashback, we see the hapless low-budget crew shooting at the school, where a real-life unsolved mass murder took place several years before.
