A murder mystery in which Halliday stars as a scientist who has been institutionalized after claiming insanity to avoid prosecution for a series of brutal murders he didn't commit. He escapes from the asylum and the murders begin anew, while the audience tries to guess which one of the
many suspects is the real murderer. Eventually, Halliday is cleared as the actual killer is caught. A remake of THE TERROR (1928), which was the first sound horror film, this movie features some competent performances, but suffers from too many complications thrown in to keep the viewers from
easily identifying the madman.
