Filled with the standard war cliches but bolstered by some fine action footage, this is a reasonably entertaining depiction of Marine exploits during the Korean War. The story follows a Marine battalion that effectively battles its way through North Korean forces, only to be ordered to
fall back when Chinese troops joined the fray. Lovejoy is the battle-hardened but compassionate captain; Carlson the WW II vet pulled away from his wife and family to again serve his country; Tamblyn is the green but gungho recruit; and the other stereotypical characters are also in place. The
