A plodding film that does no justice to Leo Tolstoy's
Resurrection. Nice sets and scenic shots help this period piece about the upper crust of 1876 Russia. Story is about a Russian prince and peasant girl falling in love and the troubles they encounter. Plenty to look at, not much to
digest. This is the eighth time
Resurrection had come to the screen. There was also a remake called WE LIVE AGAIN by United Artists in 1934, a Russian version appearing in 1963, and a Spanish version shot at the same time as this one, starring Gilbert Roland.
