People in a Cornish village start turning up black and dead, sending the villagers into hysterics. Barrett comes into town with his wife to investigate his brother's death and is met with hostility and silence. After snooping around, he finds out that his brother died from a snakebite,
and that Pearce is the victim of a Malayan curse that turns her into a snake when she contacts heat. Barrett is bitten by the snake-human. When his wife, Daniel, comes to the rescue, a fire starts, turning Pearce into an enormous reptile. The reptile attacks her own father before dying in the
flames, while Daniel and Barrett escape.
