A scatter-shot ending does in this light love story. Impetuous Barrie wants a good American man for marriage who is not just in it for her money, instead of her current husband, a greedy foreigner. After her divorce, she takes up with and marries a tie salesman in her father's store without telling him who she is, and he thereupon gets one promotion after another. Learning at last who his wife is related to, in anger he joins forces with the competition. The muddled ending has the two trying to make up with one wild scene that involves the child the pair had adopted and a merger of the two stores.
