RED SALUTE is an anti-Communist picture that was so notorious it occasioned a riot by leftist students when it opened at New York's Rivoli Theatre. More than 150 students demonstrated and many were arrested. Constance Cummings was to have played the Stanwyck role but was replaced just before shooting this attempt at another version of IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT.
